Access model

A college site is really many sites: departments, schools, administrative units, each with its own editors and its own idea of who should be able to change what. Modelling that badly produces either a permissions system nobody can reason about or a free-for-all.

Access is scoped with Drupal's Group module so editorial rights follow organisational structure rather than being granted one node at a time. SAML connects institutional identity. Content came across through the Migrate API with custom source and process plugins for the cases the standard ones do not cover — media links rewritten, aliases and redirects preserved, user accounts matched to the identity provider rather than duplicated.
