Accessibility target
A public-sector portal has an unusually wide audience — apprentices, employers, training providers, the generally curious — and an accessibility obligation that is not negotiable. Both point the same way: get the components right, because everything else is assembled from them.
The component library is implemented as Single Directory Components with accessibility checked as each one is built rather than audited at the end. Solr and facets carry the browsing: people arrive looking for a trade, a programme or a location, and the search has to accept all three.

Design systems and theming
Component libraries built as Single Directory Components, documented in Storybook, and used by the site rather than filed next to it.
Accessibility and quality assurance
Meeting WCAG because people use your site with a keyboard and a screen reader — with automated checks and manual testing to back it up.
Search architecture
Search API and Solr set up so people find things — with facets, autocomplete, document indexing and relevance you can actually tune.
